5 Months Old!

Blaine is 5 months old today and he is still such a good baby. When we had Bryce and we would tell everyone what a good baby he was, everyone would say, "Oh wait till that second one." Well, folks, our second one is just as good! We are so lucky and so very blessed with our two healthy, perfect little boys! When Bryce was 5 months old, I was getting ready to go back to work. I am so lucky that I get to stay home with Blaine and not miss out on anything!

Hey Blaine, Blaine?

What mom?

Did you see this?

I'm 5 months old today

It's pretty exciting

Okay, but I'm getting kinda tired now

I just love that little face

This is his new face he just started making today. So funny!

A Closer Look at the Playroom

One of my summer projects was to redo a kitchen set for the playroom. These pieces were in my parents garage not being used, so I decided to work them over. They actually came from a Kindergarten classroom at United that my sister was a teacher's aide in. I cleaned them up, sanded them down, painted them, added contact paper, and new hardware. I think they turned out super cute! Here are a few before and afters of each piece.

I used old CDs for the burners. Just a little spray paint and glue!

Before they tore down the grade school and junior high in Oneida, they opened it up to the public. We got this metal cabinet that was actually in a closet in my first grade classroom. Mrs. Vittone, my first grade teacher was actually the reason I went into teaching. I painted it and I now use it for my craft stuff. We also have a file cabinet, two kid chairs, and a wooden bench from one of the locker rooms. So very cool!

I got a can of chalkboard paint from Myrl and I have found all kinds of uses for it.

I painted name tags with chalkboard paint and then used them to label different things. That way if I change whats in each drawer, the label will be easy to change as well.

I used fishing line and clothespins to display artwork. Bryce loves to see his pictures up there. I have had so much fun creating this playroom.

A Basement Transformed!

We have been working hard on transforming our basement into another living space. I have a playroom area for the kids that I just love! Let's start with some before pictures!

We are planning to have a TV and possibly a bar down here someday. Now here's the playroom before and after!

We bought remnant rugs from menards and carpet squares for the floor. Most of the furniture was stuff I have been storing at mom and dad's from when I lived on my own or things I had in my classroom. The books and toys are ones that I have acquired through the years as well as some of Bryce's. We love this space, and sometimes I can't even get Bryce to come up for lunch!

If you've followed by blog from the beginning, the READ letters and wall dots were from Bryce's room in Ottawa.

Just a Little Painting!

I have been looking for ideas to decorate our playroom in the basement, and I came across an idea that I thought would be perfect for Bryce and I to do together. It only took us about 20 minutes one morning while the other two took their morning nap.

I used painters tape to spell the word on a white canvas.

I then let Bryce paint all over it with different colors. He actually did pretty well for his first time painting.

Showing me his dirty hands.

Running to the bathroom to wash them clean.

Painting his own picture with the leftover paint.

I peeled the tape off to reveal our finished product! I think it turned out awesome!

The perfect piece of art for our playroom! Stay tuned for more pictures of the playroom!

A Day in the Life...

There are many things that we have the opportunity to do out here in the middle of nowhere. For example, we can go outside and see a huge crane!

Or we can watch a combine harvest corn from the comfort of our living room while we are wearing our pajamas! Bryce is so lucky to be able to watch these types of things, and I'm pretty sure he loves it!

Fun With My Boys!

I am so lucky to be able to stay home with my boys every day! I am also so lucky that they get along so well. Bryce seriously loves Blaine and is so good with him! He loves playing with him and Blaine just adores Bryce and is always smiling and laughing at him!
