Funny Stories and Quotes from 2016

Wednesday, January 27, 2016
Yesterday at lunch I witnessed the cutest interaction between Bryce and Blaine without any prompting from me. I made Bubble-up pizza for lunch and Bryce leaned over and cut Blaine's pizza for him. When he was done Blaine said, "Tank you Bry." Bryce responded by saying, "Welcome Bane."
We have a hard time getting Bryce to eat sometimes so we have to be creative with him. Last night at supper he was eating pineapple and pretending it was BBQ pizza. I asked him why it was yellow and he said, "Maybe someone peed on it." When I asked him who, he said, "Maybe Bryce." He then continued to eat five more pieces.

Blaine Butler has really starting talking a lot! Some of the my favorite phrases he says include: can't do it, sorry, tank you, peas, amen, trying poop, potty, Iya (Lyla), I did it, pizza, ot dog (hot dog), and bubbles. His little voice is just so sweet and he can repeat anything we say and is still as ornery as ever. He can go from crying and screaming to his evil little giggles in a matter of seconds. He definitely makes our lives interesting, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Bryce had his first school experience at High School Preschool. He goes for a few hours twice or three times a week depending on their schedule. He did great. He doesn't tell us a lot but he did sing a song for us and told us a story they read to him. He also says that he doesn't talk to anybody and that he is just a good boy. After his nap today he was getting ready to help daddy work on a project and he kept moving his metal stand. I kept saying, "Don't do that...be careful....please stop." Finally he said, "Chill out mom."

Bryce's ABC Farm book

This was from November of 2020 and I'm not sure why it never got posted. It was saved in my drafts for some reason:
So last year for Christmas I worked secretly to create a family ABC book on Shutterfly. I surprised Shane and the kids on Christmas morning with the book. It was A is for Ali Kay, B is for Bryce and Blaine, C is for Cubs Game, D is for daddy, and so on. In the front of the book I wrote a cute little dedication page where I told the kids that I hope my book inspires them to create their own ABC book. Well, it inspired Bryce to make a Farm ABC book and he's been working on it for almost a year. He did all the pictures himself and came up with the ideas. I even taught him how to add the pictures and font to each page. He worked so hard and he is so proud of it. We ordered 4 copies of it and we are giving them as Christmas presents this year. Here is a little preview of a few of the pictures!

New Year's Eve at the Lake House

We celebrated another New Year’s Eve at the lake house and made it home this morning before the snow got too bad. We played about 6 board games, ate endless snacks, enjoyed some delicious Alfanos pizza, and had a countdown at 9:00! Happy New Year everyone!

Christmas with Nannie

Since Ali was feeling back to normal we went ahead and kept our celebration with Nannie on the day after Christmas. We had a yummy brunch and of course more presents! These kids sure are spoiled!

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Unfortunately, we did not enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas day as expected. Ali Kay ended up getting sick on the afternoon of Christmas Eve. We were busy in the kitchen making breakfast casserole, cinnamon rolls, caramel rolls, and sugar cookies for Santa. All of the sudden, Ali said she wanted to go take a nap, which is something she never does. She woke up crying and ended up getting sick all over her room. She continued to get sick throughout the day and didn't go anywhere without her bucket. She wasn't able to keep anything down, not even a few sips of water. She continued to throw up until about 11 that night. So we were not able to go to Tucker Christmas at Aunt Mel's or the Christmas Eve service at church. Christmas morning she woke up feeling a bit better. She powered through, opened up presents, but she was back asleep by 9:00. She was able to eat a few crackers and drink some water when she woke up from her 3 hour nap. She slowly regained her strength but we did not go to Grandma and Grandpa's on Christmas night. So much for that yummy Swedish Sausage! By about 4 on Christmas day she was pretty much back to normal. Thank goodness it was only 24 hours. We are thinking it was some sort of bug or maybe something she ate. But who knows.
