Funny Stories and Quotes from 2016

I continued my story writing from my "Tell Me Something Good" journal that I started a few years ago. Here are my entries for 2016.

Yesterday during lunch I witnessed the cutest interaction between Bryce and Blaine without any prompting from me. I made Bubble-up Pizza for lunch and Bryce leaned over and cut Blaine's pizza for him. When he was done Blaine said, "Tank you Bry." Bryce responded by saying, "Welcome Bane."

We have a hard time getting Bryce to eat sometimes so we have to be creative with him. Last night at supper he was eating pineapple and pretending it was BBQ pizza. I asked him why it was yellow and he said, "maybe someone peed on it." When I asked him who, he said, "Maybe Bryce." He then continued to eat 5 more pieces.

Blaine Butler has really started talking a lot! Some of my favorite phrases from him include: can't do it, sorry, tank you, peas, amen, trying poop, potty, iya (Lyla), I did it, piza, ot og (hot dog), kitchen, and bubbles. His little voice is just so sweet. He can also repeat anything we say and is still as ornery as ever. He can go from crying and screaming to his evil little giggle in a matter of seconds. He definitely makes our lives interesting and I wouldn't have it any other way.

While eating breakfast yesterday, Bryce held up his sausage link and said, "Looks like weiner." I laughed and said, "Who told you that? He replied, "Hayden."

Today Bryce went to High School Preschool for the first time. It is an hour class at the High School for 2 or 3 days during the week. He is so excited! He picked out his clothes the night before and brought his little book bag. He is super shy so it will be interesting to find out how he does. I'm not sure who is more nervous, probably mommy!

Bryce did great at his first two days of school. He hasn't told us a lot, but he has sang a song for us that he learned and told us about a story they read to him. He also says that he doesn't talk to anybody and that he is just a good boy. After his nap today, he was getting ready to help daddy work on a project and he kept picking up and moving this metal stand. I kept saying things like, "Don't do that, be careful, put that down, be careful." Finally Bryce said, "Chill out mom."

Today was a particularly hard day. I am "trying" to potty train two of my daycare girls at the same time which has proven to be very frustrating and very messy at times! It's so hard when it's not your kid. Anyway, on this day, both of them had accidents on the floor and one of them peed on our dress-up bags in the basement. I was very frustrated and found myself losing my temper a few times. At lunch I was talking to Bryce about it and how I shouldn't act like that and he had me apologize. When I was cleaning up lunch, I was just very sad thinking that I wish I could find a teaching job. Bryce walked over to me and as I bent down to wipe off his face, he grabbed my face and kissed my cheek. It was just what I needed at that moment.

This week I am able to be a stay at home mom instead of a daycare mom, and it has been so nice. Our boys are so much fun. Today after lunch, I had just finished cleaning the kitchen and sat down on the couch to relax for just a few minutes. Bryce started yelling at me to come and play with them and I replied, "I'll be there in a few minutes." He kept yelling for me and then he finally said, "You missing out. You missing out."

Blaine Butler is talking so much lately and he really cracks us up. One night last week we were all watching Paw Patrol before bed and he tooted pretty loudly. We all laughed and then he said, "You hear that?"

Blaine Butler was in rare form tonight while eating supper. I made lasagna with cheesy bread and pears. He was only eating the pears and we kept telling him to eat his lasagna. Shane said, "Do you want to eat it?" He said, "no." Then Shane asked him, "Well, what do you want to eat?" Blaine replied, "Steak." We all laughed pretty hard. I'm pretty sure he has never even had steak before. So then I said, "Oh Blaine Butler, what are we gonna do with you?" He said, "Take a bath." We always take a bath right after supper. He's such a goof. This same night I was putting Bryce to bed and giving him hugs and kisses and he wrapped his hands around my neck and said, "Me never wanna stop loving on you."

Blaine has been sleeping in his big boy bed for 4 weeks now and it could not be going any better. He absolutely loves it. He loves when we lay with him and say our prayer. He loves to sing songs and grab my face to give me kisses. After laying there for awhile, he will say, "Mom, you go to or (your) bed," or "Mommy, shoo." Sometimes he'll say, "No, don't leave me," and "I ove you." Tonight we were all playing in the basement and Bryce was trying to carry the basket with all our sports stuff in it. He was standing at the top of the stairs yelling, "Help me." I came to his rescue and the said, "Mommy you the only one in my whole life who helps me."

I wish I could freeze Blaine Butler at this age right now. He is so fun and has such a personality. He repeats everything you tell him. Some of my favorites include, "Oh my goodness," Ooo I so thirsty and hungry," "Everybody has a mommy, everybody has a daddy, everybody has a papa, everybody has a mamaw." He also argues about everything even when he is totally wrong. I feel like he went from saying a few words to talking in complete sentences.

Stay tuned for 2017

Christmas Night

This year we celebrated Christmas with all 31 of us at Grandma and Grandpa's new house in Oneida. It was so much fun to all be together and mamaw even had a fun little game for us to play as a whole group!

Christmas Day at Nannie's

This year we traveled to Nannie's house on Christmas for lunch and presents. The kids were spoiled of course and had so much fun playing with their cousins and opening their new toys!

She got this new quilt and book from Nannie and just snuggled right up with daddy! I'm pretty sure they read this same book about six times!

Christmas Morning

Our kids are at a pretty great age right now to really enjoy the magic of Christmas. They get so excited about the decorating, reading part of the nativity story every night, the baking, the wrapping, the presents, the family time, the food, the anticipation of Jesus' birthday. Christmas morning was pretty great this year!

Blaine Butler was the first one awake this year and he got to be the first one to see the Polar Express train that was under our tree! He even got to control it!

Just patiently waiting for his brother and sister to wake up. He ended up going up with daddy and waking them up.

He was so excited about this cleaning set and has already been cleaning throughout the house!
Ali Kay was not quite awake but was pretty excited to see that she got a frozen castle!

I made the kids and daddy a family ABC photo book. It was pretty fun to see them open it and read through it!

Now it's Ali Kay's turn to control the train.

Christmas Eve

We spent another evening at Bill and Gale's house but this time with the whole Tucker family. It was loud, crowded, and so much fun!

Blaine was cold, so he went and put his coat on before opening presents.

Some great candid moments during picture time! Our kids were getting a little cranky and tired!

Swedish Sausage

Every since we moved back "home" we have been able to help with making Swedish sausage for Christmas night at Grandma and Grandpa's house. This year, we got to help at their new house! Bryce cranked the whole time, and refused to give up until it was done!
