First Time Camping

We were not really planning on buying a camper this summer, but it happened. We had actually planned on getting one next summer, but an opportunity came upon us and it was too good to pass up. So we are now campers and we love it. I grew up camping and I'm so excited to give my kids that same experience that I had. Keith and Jean Ann recommended the Geneseo Campground for our first time and I'm so glad they did. It was such a fun place with the cleanest bathrooms and the nicest owners. We got there on Monday afternoon and left on Friday afternoon. We had such a great week, despite the extreme heat. We went fishing, hiking, biking, and kayaking. The kids had fun at the splash pad as well as the playground. We survived our first storm in a camper, had 9 visitors on Wednesday, went putt putt golfing and just enjoyed being together during our first camping experience. Of course, we have a lot of photos to share!

The kids had so much fun just playing with their toys on the carpet.

The boys were super into taking pictures so there's quite a few pictures that they took. They actually turned out pretty well!

The kids had so much fun putt putt golfing. It was so hot, but we had the whole course to ourselves.

Blaine loved going around and taking pictures of all the number signs at each site. Our site number was 21 but he really wanted it to be 22 because that is the number of his favorite Nascar racer, Joey Logano.

We went fishing under the overpass and they loved climbing up the rocks.

The campground was right along the Hennepin Canal.

They liked walking along the Canal and then taking the secret trails back into the campground.

Blaine took this one, and I think it's pretty cool.

We took this 4 person surrey bike down the path to the lock and dam, or the waterfall as the kids called it. It was a very hot day and it was a lot of work for Shane and I but it was worth it to see the water. The kids thought it was pretty cool!

On Wednesday Myrl, Hayden, Izzy, PeaJay, and Brogan came to see us at the campground and went kayaking and rode the surrey to see the waterfall too. It was fun to have so many visitors!

Bryce loved riding his bike around the campground. Blaine even got pretty good at riding his bike too!
Ali and I even saw a turtle on one of our walks down the canal.

On Wednesday night, Papa, Mamaw, Jake, and Jayla came to see us and have supper with us. We had fun showing them around the campground, eating a yummy supper using our pie irons, and playing a game of baseball.

The campground theme was turtles. They were everywhere. My sister loves turtles so on our last day there we went around and tried to take as many pictures of turtles as we could. The speed limit there was 7 1/2 which we thought was so funny!

This was Ali's favorite. It was a cute little fountain that we called "Yertle the Turtle" from the Dr. Seuss book because they were stacked on top of each other. It was right by the shower house and she had to stop at it everytime.

This sign also cracked me up!

Playing on the playground one last time. They loved the sand pit!
This one was my personal favorite!

Playing a little bags before papa came and got us

Right as we were leaving, Blaine noticed the turtle on the sign and had to get out and take a picture of it.
