Christmas Morning

We try not to go too overboard for our kids each year since they get so many presents from so many other people. We try to come up with more personal ideas and made it a little more fun in other ways. For instance, instead of writing their names on the presents, I put random numbers on them and then on Christmas morning they have to try and guess which numbers belong to who. This year I used some of the same numbers as last year but mixed them up so I was able to trick them. The last presents they opened up lead to a puzzle which led to a the first clue in a scavenger hunt that led them all around the house and even to the breezeway. The final clue told them that in 2 short days we would be traveling to Dubuque Iowa to stay at the Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark. They had so much fun traveling all around the house and they took turns reading each clue. Bryce even helped Ali "read" them by having her repeat the clue. It was pretty cute to watch. We hung out at home for most of the morning and then headed to Grandpa Bill and Grammie Gale's house for a yummy lunch with the Secrist family. We came back home so that I could make my sweet potato casserole for Grandma D and Grandpa Carl's house.
