Family Visit

This past weekend my parents, my sister, and my niece came and stayed with us Friday night. We all went to Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday morning to see my cousin Sally go through her nurse pinning ceremony. It was a fun family weekend!

We think it is hilarious to put objects on Bryce's head. He looks like a little shepard boy.

He apparently doesn't mind too much

Christmas Pinterest Ideas!

This is my second post about pinterest ideas. I'm sure there will be many others. I used the Christmas card idea last year when we lived in our tiny little one bedroom apartment in Streator, and I loved it. I spend so much time in the kitchen throughout the day, and I love looking at all the cards instead of just putting them in a basket somewhere. Shane was so excited when he came home last week and I had the first card on display (enter sarcasm).

In the next few weeks all my cupboards will be filled with cards. I love it! The only thing that would make this project better would be if the clothespins were red and green, or maybe glittery. Maybe next year!
I made these using flower pots for our church craft sale. Since they didn't sell, I decided to keep them for myself. I love the little snowman.

4 Months Old!

Bryce is 4 months old today! He is getting so big and so active. It was hard to get his picture because he wouldn't sit still very well. He can now roll both ways which means he is all over the place. He can also go up on his knees, so it won't be long until he is crawling! I can't believe it!

I love to fold my hands like this

Hey, what's over there?

Oh, it's just my silly mommy!

Look how I can stretch!

Christmas in Chicago!

Shane and I went to Chicago this past weekend as a late birthday present for me. He got us tickets to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Cadillac Theatre. It was a great show, and we had so much fun. It was our first weekend away from our little man, and although we missed him a lot, it was good to spend a weekend away just the two of us. It was a cold, windy weekend, but we were able to do a little shopping on Michigan avenue and enjoy the Christmas lights in the city. We also enjoyed some of our favorite restaurants in the city: Al's Beef and California Pizza Kitchen. We also found a great little breakfast place called Yolk.

On our way through Ottawa we stopped at the park to see the ice sculpture on display.

They were so neat. I wished we could have seen them being carved.

Each sculpture was carved on top of a putting green so you could putt putt golf, notice the double holes on this one! How fun!

The view from our hotel room in Chicago.

Shane always finds the best rooms with the best views!

So festive

My Pinterest Projects

If you haven't heard of pinterest, where have you been? Just kidding! It is this great website that allows you to search through all kinds of ideas from delicious recipes to craft ideas and even how to make your own cleaning products. It is very fun and dangerously additive. I currently have 21 different boards (categories) and 486 pins (ideas). Shane even signs in to my account and pins different ideas, mostly recipes he wants me to make or furniture he someday wants to build for our someday house. Here are the ideas that I have pinned and actually done!

This was my very first idea from pinterest. I just took two jars and two candle holders (all from the dollar tree) and glued them together to use in our bathroom for storage on the counter. Total cost = $4

Treat bags for my Kindergarten students for Halloween!

Scrapbook letters and corsage pins

The original idea from pinterest was to write the lyrics to your first song, but I thought it would mean more to write our vows instead.

Dry erase to do lists made from a dollar tree picture frame and scrapbook paper. I made one for my desk at school and sold one at our church craft sale.

Joy signs I made for our church sale using dollar tree frames, wrapping paper, ribbon, and hot glue.

Same type of idea but using free standing frames from you guessed it, the dollar tree!

10 Things I've Learned...

I thought since this is a blog, I will actually try blogging instead of just putting captions under pictures of my son. :) I was just thinking how much has changed in our lives since we have had Bryce. All for the better of course!

10 Things you learn when you become a mom:
-Nothing grosses you out anymore
-Your conversations with your husband drastically change and it is amazing how often the word poop enters your daily vocabulary
-You never stop worrying about your child even if he is just sleeping upstairs
- You now consider staying up until ten to be a “late night”
- Everyday is a surprise
-You now consider taking a shower to be a luxury
-You believe in love at first sight
-You can have the most wonderful conversation with your child using no words at all
-You have a new respect for your own parents
-Your life now revolves around your child, and you wouldn’t have it any other way
